For students at Michigan State University, studying abroad can entail a great amount of decision making and the consideration of many factors. It is a choice that leads students to determine both the costs and benefits of traveling to a foreign country before deciding to do so.
Claire Carroll, a communications senior at MSU, participated in the International and Organizational Communications program in Paris this past summer for about one month in July.
Carroll said that she was happy with her decision as it was for the perfect amount of time, allowed her to become more diverse in experiencing different cultures, and helped her connect with fellow students.
Similarly, Hilary Podgers, a senior media and information student at MSU, participated in a six month Environmental Studies and Agriculture program in Dublin, Ireland.
Podgers said she truly did benefit from her experience as she too met a number of people from different countries while on her trip.
Both Carroll and Podgers expand on how they have now benefited from studying abroad with MSU.
